Linux on DSP

VLX for Embedded Systems permits a DSP operating system and a Linux system to run simultaneously on a single TI DSP processor. This new architecture is particularly attractive for low cost IP set-top boxes, and has been implemented with the Texas Instruments (TI) DSP/BIOS operating system running on the TI DM642 digital media processor.

How VirtualLogix VLX helps

  • Eliminates the need for a General Purpose Processor (GPP) and associated hardware
  • Reuses existing DSP software
  • Leverages Linux
  • Requires a single software architecture for multiple hardware designs
