Alexander Brühl, Senior Partner, Atlas Venture
Alexander Brühl is a Senior Partner in the communications sector, and joined Atlas Venture in 1998. He is an expert in semiconductors and wireless, data warehousing and security.
Prior to joining Atlas Venture, Mr. Brühl served as Director, Corporate Marketing for R&O Software-Technik GmbH, a leading German enterprise repository vendor with a strong presence in the US. After R&O was acquired by Viasoft Inc. in 1996, Mr. Brühl served as Director, Corporate Strategies.
Previously, Mr. Brühl was Founder and Managing Director of Solution Analysis Group, a German consulting and implementation firm for information management solutions.
Mr. Brühl holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University Munich.
Giuseppe Zocco, General Partner, Index Ventures
Giuseppe Zocco co-founded Index Ventures in 1996 and is a General Partner of the firm. His areas of investment focus currently include components, communication and wireless infrastructure and devices. He serves as a Director of several public and private companies including Artimi, Certess, Conexant (NASDAQ: CNXT), Ozon, SpinX and Telegent Systems.
Previously, Giuseppe spent five years as a consultant with McKinsey? & Company in several European offices. During his career at McKinsey?, Giuseppe advised several major corporations on a number of strategic and organizational matters including European entry strategies, strategic positioning, marketing and new product introductions.
Giuseppe holds a B.A. in Business Administration from Bocconi University in Milan, an IEP from London Business School and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Tom Bradley, Partner, DFJ Esprit
Tom Bradley is a Partner with DFJ Esprit. He was one of the founding partners of that business in July 2006, joining from Cazenove Private Equity. His current investment focus is on the communications sector where he has recently concentrated on semiconductors and related technologies. He represents DFJ Esprit on the board of a number of portfolio companies including DisplayLink Corp, Clearswift Systems and Callserve Communications.
Previously Tom worked for Cazenove Private Equity and SOFTBANK Europe Ventures where he helped those funds make their initial investments in companies such as Volantis Systems, Picsel Technologies, LOVEFiLM International and NetEconomy.
Prior to joining SOFTBANK, Tom was a consultant with Datamonitor where he worked for blue-chip clients such as IBM and Microsoft and helped to build the US consulting practice. Tom is a graduate of Oxford University where he studied Modern History at Brasenose College.
Peter Richards, Chief Executive Officer
Peter Richards joined VirtualLogix as Chief Executive Officer in August 2005. Prior to joining VirtualLogix, he was Vice President of Worldwide Field Operations for CoWare, a leading ESL EDA tools provider. Mr. Richards also held senior executive positions with worldwide functional and general management responsibilities at WindRiver Systems Inc. and Tandem Computers Inc.
Mr. Richards has over 30 years of business experience in the technology areas of real-time embedded systems, EDA design, and networked enterprise servers covering Europe, North America, Latin America and Asia. Mr. Richards has also held senior management positions in functional areas including sales, marketing, professional services project management, IP development management, and business unit general management. His technology experience encompasses the areas of embedded software design, financial services eft/pos, defense, communication networks and high availability/fault tolerant computing systems.
Mr. Richards was educated in Australia and later in the United Kingdom. He holds a US accredited equivalent B.A. in Marketing Management from Westminster College London, U.K.
Michel Gien, Co-founder and Executive Vice President of Corporate Strategy
With more than 30 years of experience in the research and software industry, Michel Gien is working to establish VirtualLogix as the global leader in real-time virtualization for connected devices. His passion for technology, working with customer issues, and his commitment to excellence are the foundation of VirtualLogix's culture.
Prior to co-founding VirtualLogix as its first CEO in August 2002, Mr. Gien was co-founder, General Manager & Chief Technology Officer of Chorus Systems. He became the first Distinguished Engineer outside North America at Sun Microsystems when they acquired Chorus Systems in 1997. Prior to founding Chorus Systems, Mr. Gien worked as a Director at INRIA (French public IT research center) and CNET (France Telecom's research labs) leading research projects on computer networks, UNIX, and distributed operating systems from 1971 to 1986. He founded, co-chaired then chaired the European Unix Association (EUUG then EurOpen) from 1980 to 1990.
Mr. Gien graduated from Ecole Centrale des Arts et Manufactures de Paris, France, in 1971.
